Dhofar inch over the line despite Khabourah

Dhofar booked their semi-final berth in the His Majesty’s Cup after holding their ground and nerve  for a 1-1 draw whilst visiting Khabourah.

Dhofar came into the game with a 3-1 lead from the first leg, with their opponents needing a 2-0 victory at the minimum to go through.

Khabourah started strong, taking the lead in the 19th minute after Nabe’a Sheedi perfectly timed his jump to flick home a header and give Khabourah the lead.

Khabourah then needed a goal to secure their promotion. Dhofar, on the other hand, needed one for security.

The hosts pushed forward on and on, with it becoming increasingly apparent that the next goal would decided the tie.

The advantage played out well for Dhofar, who pounced on the counter in the 94th minute. Some fancy footwork and a cutback later, substitute Khalil Darmiki slotted home into an empty net to put the tie beyond doubt.

The result sees Dhofar qualify to the semi-finals of the His Majesty’s Cup, keeping their title charge alive in 2 competitions.
